Northern Style BBQ Sauce
This BBQ sauce has the perfect tang, sweetness and spice. Smother it on your ribs and they will definitely be devoured quickly.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic
- 660 ml Strained Tomatoes
- 1 Apple peeled, cored and cut in pieces
- ¾ cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- ¼ cup White Vinegar
- ¾ cup Brown Sugar
- ½ cup Fancy Molasses
- 2 tsp salt
- ½ tsp Ground Allspice
- 1 tsp Dry Mustard
- 1 tsp Paprika
- ¼ tsp Cayenne
- ½ tsp Ground Black Pepper
- ½ tsp Liquid Hickory Smoke
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan sauté onion in olive oil until soft and translucent. Then add garlic and cook for 1 minute more. Add the rest of the ingredients except the liquid smoke.
- Simmer with the saucepan covered for 1 hour.
- Remove from heat and stir in liquid smoke. Let sauce cool down. Puree in blender until smooth. Makes 4½ cups of sauce.
- Store in the refrigerator in air tight container. Keeps for 1 week.
