Classic BBQ Smoked Pork Ribs

Easy foolproof recipe with a homemade sauce.
Prep Time20 minutes
Cook Time5 hours
Course: Savory
Cuisine: American, BBQ
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of ribs Back or side.
  • ½ cup Northern Rib Rub Approximately.
  • 1 cup Northern Style BBQ Sauce Approximately.

Instructions

  • Set smoker or pellet grill to 225℉. Use your wood of choice. We recommend a hickory blend.
  • Remove silver skin on the back of the ribs.
  • Season ribs on both sides with rib rub.
  • Place on smoker and smoke for 2 hours.
  • After two hours, wrap the ribs in parchment and foil. The parchment prevents the bones from puncturing the foil.
  • Place the ribs back on the smoker or in a regular oven @ 225℉. Cook for 2 more hours.
  • Heat up the smoker or grill to 350℉.
  • Remove the ribs from foil. Handle carefully, as the ribs will be very tender and may break apart. At this point, the ribs can also be left to cool in their foil wrap, then refrigerated or frozen for a later use.
  • Place the ribs, top down, on the grill and cover the bottom with BBQ sauce.
  • Once the sauce has thickened enough, turn the ribs over and cover the top with BBQ sauce. Cook until the sauce is hot and thickened to you favourite consistency.
